The Teams
There will be 12-16 teams competing at the inaugural HKVTA Centenary Cup, drawn into four groups of three or four teams and competing in a round-robin format.
Each team will have 6-8 players; 4-5 female and 2-3 male.
Each team will also have a captain.
The Ties
Each tie between teams will consist of two mixed doubles matches, and a ladies’ doubles match. Players are not allowed to play more than one match in each tie.
A match will consist of one six-game set, no-ad, with 7-point tiebreak when game score is tied at 6-6.
The Age Eligibility
Mixed Doubles A: The female player must be aged 55 and over (born on or before 31 December 1969), the male player must be aged 60 and over (born on or before 31 December 1964), and the combined age of each pair of players must be 120 and over, e.g.: 55 + 65 = 120 or 58 + 64 = 122, etc.
Ladies’ Doubles: The players must be aged 50 and over (born on or before 31 December 1974), and the combined age of each pair of players must be 110 and over, e.g.: 50 + 60 = 110 or 55 + 58 = 113, etc.
Mixed Doubles B: The female player must be aged 45 and over (born on or before 31 December 1979), and the male player must be aged 55 and over (born on or before 31 December 1969.
The ties will start with Mixed Doubles A, followed by Ladies Doubles, and Mixed Doubles B will conclude the tie.
The team which wins at least two of the three matches wins the tie.
The Schedule
Group stage matches will be played on 30th March 2024.
Once all group ties are played, the top two teams of their respective groups cement their place in the quarterfinals, from where it adopts knock-out format.
Quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final will be played on 31st March 2024.
Prize Presentation
Trophies will be awarded to the Champion, the first and second Runner-up teams; and medals to the winning players.
